<desc-eng>The United States – despite the rise or temporary resurgence of other powers – remains the dominant international actor in the first part of the 21st century. We cannot, therefore, be indifferent toward recent developments in U.S. foreign policy. Without making long-term predictions, we believe it is possible to draw relevant conclusions from events and initiatives of the three Administrations and five presidential terms since the end of the Cold War. In particular, the presidency of George W. Bush, and its effect on the world, on the Allies and on the U.S., allows us to make assumptions about the future direction of U.S. policy. This experts’ roundtable discussion and debate will analyze the options and most likely foreign policy direction of the new Administration to take office after the elections of 2008.
